Freeze protection heat transfer fluid
DOWFROST™ HD Heat Transfer Fluid is dyed fluorescent yellow-green for leak detection purposes. Solutions of this in water provide freeze protection to below -50°C (-60°F) and burst protection to below -73°C (-100°F). It is a formulation of 94% propylene glycol and a specially designed package of industrial corrosion inhibitors.
DOWFROST HD is the only inhibited glycol made with DOW PuraGuard™ Propylene Glycol USP/EP, a pharmaceutical grade of monopropylene glycol with specified purity greater than 99.8%. By contrast, competitor products are often made from recycled or industrial grade glycols, or from glycols derived from bio-renewable sources. These glycols typically do not meet USP specifications.
Dow’s corrosion inhibitors and additives passivate metal surfaces to prevent corrosion and neutralize degradation compounds preventing pH drop. Dow’s formula also has thermal-oxidation stability that provides long-term protection.
DOWFROST HD has a higher maximum operating temperature, higher reserve alkalinity, and greater thermal stability.
